Greek Orthodox Mission sets Easter events

Orthodox Christians around the world will celebrate Easter on Sunday, May 1. In preparation for the event, this week’s special services will be held at the Greek Orthodox Mission of Peachtree City at 313 Dividend Drive as follows: Wednesday, April 13, 6:30 p.m., Service of the 9th Hour, 7 p.m., Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts; Friday, April 15, 7 p.m., The Akathist Hymn; Sunday, April 17, 8 a.m., Orthros, 9 a.m., Divine Liturgy. Bethany ladies plan trip to Dahlonega

The Circle of Love at Bethany United Methodist Church will travel to Dahlonega Thursday, April 14, to visit the Dahlonega Museum and have lunch at the Smith House. Hopewell’s fashion show is Saturday

Hopewell Methodist Women will stage their third annual fashion show and luncheon Saturday, April 16, at noon. Proceeds benefit mission projects. The fashion show will be staged by SteinMart department store and the luncheon will be catered. Tickets are $15 each. Greek Orthodox Mission to offer delicacies

The Greek Orthodox Mission of Peachtree City will offer some of its Greek delicacies, such as pastichio, moussaka, grilled souvlaki, pastries and more, at the Shakerag Festival in Peachtree City on April 16 and 17. The mission celebrated its first Greekfest March 5 at the Dixie Commemorative Hangar in Peachtree City. More than 300 attended. Entertainment featured the Greek Dance Troupe from the Marietta Greek Orthodox church and visitors were invited to join in the dancing afterwards. Silent and live auctions were held, with all proceeds benefiting the mission’s building fund.

Priest to speak on ‘Christian Zionism’

Dr. Stephen Sizer, Anglican vicar of Christ Church, Virginia Water, visiting lecturer at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and chairman of the International Bible Society UK, will speak at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville Sunday, April 17, at adult education at 9:45 a.m. He will address the topic of Christian Zionism, the movement and its theology. The Episcopal Church of the Nativity is at 130 Antioch Road, just off of Hwy. 92 South, at Harps Crossing in Fayetteville. Free marriage seminar planned

Liberty Baptist Church will sponsor a free, six-week marriage seminar, “God’s Commonsense Approach for a Successful Marriage (31 ways to make a marriage successful),” Tuesday, April 19, from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. at 36 American Walk (Centennial Subdivision) in Peachtree City.
