Bad Links? | No more bring-your-own lawn chairs at PTCs The FredBy JOHN MUNFORD Patrons at the Fred will no longer be able to bring lawn chairs to the annual summer concert series, which will feature a larger area for lawn seating this year, but they will be able to buy frozen alcoholic drinks such as daiquiris and margaritas. Those are a few of the changes at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater for this years concert series. The ban on lawn chairs was enacted so all patrons will be able to see the concert stage, said new amphitheater director Randy Angrisano. If everybody is on a blanket at the grade of the hill, everyone will be able to see, Angrisano said, adding that he hasnt yet had any complaints about the new policy though he expects to catch some grief about it. The selection of Martinis to handle concessions is part of an upgraded offering for amphitheater patrons and something Angrisano wanted to happen as soon as he took over the venue. The amphitheaters two separate smoking areas will be intact and improved this year, with concrete poured so patrons wont have to deal with soggy ground, Angrisano said. Seven tables have also been added to the mix, making room for even more patrons. Also, some of the rear exterior of the building has been refurbished, with much assistance from Peachtree City City Manager Bernie McMullen, Angrisano added. McMullen is also a member of the Peachtree City Tourism Association, which operates the amphitheater and the Peachtree City Tennis Center. Also behind the scenes, the amphitheaters electrical system has been upgraded significantly so that every light works, Angrisano said. The structural improvements were important to make sure the amphitheaters longevity remains intact, he added. |
