Bad Links? | Notable Fayette County High Schools varsity baseball team defeated East Coweta 7-5 on Monday. Dan Cooper drove in three runs, while Chase Davis drove in two. Rick Williams hit a solo home run and Brent Moss drove in one RBI. Phillip Robinson started the game for Fayette County, pitching six innings and striking out six batters. Austin Wilkes pitched the seventh and got two strikeouts. The Tigers will host Newnan on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Drake McCoy won a national championship in the 275 pound weight class at the 2005 National High School Coaches Association Senior Nationals by decision over Brady Wilson of Minnesota, 7-1. McCoy won all six matches in the meet. He defeated Jeremiah Fennell of Ohio 5-3, beat Shan Wilson of Virginia 15-0, defeated Nicholas Ryan of Wisconsin by fall, got a win over Jake Wood of Ohio, 15-4 and beat Joey White of South Dakota 3-2. The Georgia Tech womens tennis team, ranked number six in the nation the last two weeks, has achieved the highest ranking for any tennis team in the schools history. Some of the creidt for Techs stellar play goes to Fayette County High School graduate Kacie Anson. The Yellow Jackets (13-2, 6-0 in ACC) are currently ranked eighth. They will host Miami, ranked ninth, on Sunday at noon and will host both Duke and North Carolina next weekend. Anson is 14-8 this season in singles (5-3 in dual-matches) and has posted a 16-6 record (5-3 in dual matches) in doubles play. |
