Bad Links? | Starrs Mill goes to 3-0 in region with 15-0 win over LovejoyBy MICHAEL BOYLAN The Starrs Mill varsity baseball team appeared eager to start enjoying the remaining days of their spring break but with their recent success since starting the region schedule they also might not want to stop playing. The Panthers picked up their third consecutive region win on Wednesday afternoon defeating Lovejoy 15-0. The win came after dismantling Mundys Mill on Monday and handing Union Grove a loss on Tuesday. As guests, Starrs Mill batted first and scored seven runs in the first inning with Carter Scurry and Kory Ison hitting RBI doubles and Nick Terry driving in two with an RBI double of his own. Philip Shell reached on an error and drove in a run and Andrew Robinson walked for the second time in the inning, which drove in a run. Starrs Mill would add three more runs in the second with Ryan Lockett hitting an RBI double and Terry and Shell each driving in a run with a sacrifice fly. Lovejoy would hold the Panthers scoreless in the third but they would bat around once again in the fourth with Shell walking in a run, Kyle McCreary driving one in with a single, Robinson driving one in with a fielders choice, Scurry adding one with a sacrifice fly and Jimmy Tanner hitting an RBI double for the 15th and final run. Blake Nation pitched three innings for the Panthers striking out four batters, giving up three hits and walking one. Robinson pitched the fourth inning for Starrs Mill and only allowed one runner in the inning. Starrs Mill is 3-0 in the region with home games against East Coweta and Fayette County next week. The Panthers will host the Indians on Monday at 5:30 p.m. and will take on the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. |
