Reward: The Peachtree City Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for recent fires. Gas spill: At 5:43 p.m. March 16, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to a gas spill or other flammable liquid at 1533 Ga. Highway 85. Gas leak: At 7:13 p.m. March 16, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel responded to a gas leak at Gingercake Road and Hood Avenue. Gas spill: At 8:55 a.m. March 15, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a gas spill at 1265 W. Highway 54. Downed power lines: At 10:18 a.m. March 16, Fayetteville firefighters responded to 350 Kelley Drive to secure the area after power lines fell down in the area. Vehicle fire: At 3:59 p.m. March 16, Fayetteville firefighters responded to 375 Pavilion Parkway to investigate a vehicle fire. Upon their arrival, they found light smoke coming from the hood vents of the vehicle. Once able to gain access to the engine compartment, the crew found a small accumulation of leaves smoldering in the compartment. A water extinguisher was used to extinguish and cool the area. The rest of the engine compartment was checked with a thermal imaging camera and no other hazards were found. Hazardous material release: At 7:13 p.m. March 16, Fayetteville firefighters responded to Gingercake Road and Hood Avenue to investigate a report of hazardous material being released in the air. Accident: At 4:17 p.m. March 17, Fayetteville firefighters responded to Ga. Highway 85 and Christopher Drive to help free one patient from a vehicle after an accident. The firefighters provided extra manpower to the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Building fire: At 9:24 p.m. March 17, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a building fire at 606 Little Bear Lane. Vehicle fire: At 4:34 p.m. March 18, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at Lafayette Avenue and Tiger Trail. Gas spill: At 12:27 a.m. March 19, Fayetteville firefighters responded to Glynn Street and East Lanier Avenue after gas or some other flammable liquid spilled at the location. Stalled elevator: At 1:59 p.m. March 21, Fayetteville firefighters responded to the Fayette County Justice Center, 1 Center Drive, to help free someone who was trapped inside of a stalled elevator. Upon their arrival, they were notified by county employees that the individual had already been removed. Cooking fire: At 5:56 p.m. March 24, Fayetteville firefighters responded to a cooking fire at 1360 N. Highway 85. From March 14-27: Fayetteville firefighters received 86 calls for help. Peachtree City Fire and Rescue Brush fire: At 3:52 a.m, March 21, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported brush fire at 201 Walt Banks Road. Firefighters arrived to find a controlled fire in the back yard. The fire was burning after dusk, which is a violation of the regulations. The fire was extinguished. Brush fire: At 5:11 p.m. March 21, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported brush fire in the area of Highway 74 and Peachtree Parkway. Nothing was found. Accident: At 11:01 a.m. March 22, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a vehicle accident at 100 Huddleston Road. Firefighters and EMS personnel checked for injuries. Accident: At 11:21 p.m. March 22, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a vehicle accident at Peachtree Parkway and Braelinn Road. Firefighters and EMS personnel checked for injuries. Alarm: At 1:52 p.m. March 24, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a fire alarm at 200 Market Place Connector. The alarm was false and was caused by malfunction. Brush fire: At 6:23 p.m. March 24, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a brush fire at 604 Golf View Drive. Firefighters arrived to find a small fire. The fire was extinguished. Brush fire: At 1:35 p.m. March 25, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a brush fire at 209 Everhill. Firefighters arrived to find a small fire. The fire was extinguished. Vehicle fire: At 3:21 p.m. March 25, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported vehicle fire at 776 Highway 74. Firefighters arrived to find the fire had been extinguished. Brush fire: At 6:35 p.m. March 25, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a reported brush fire in the area of Highway 74 and Crabapple Lane. Nothing was found. Golf Cart accident: At 7:23 p.m. March 24, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a vehicle accident involving a golf Cart in area of Wisdom Road. Firefighters and EMS personnel checked for injuries. Structure Fire (County Assist): At 3 p.m. March 26, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a structure fire at 580 Castlewood in Tyrone at the request of Fayette County under the Mutual Aid agreement. The crew helped county firefighters extinguish the fire. Brush fire: At 5:47 p.m. March 26, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a brush fire at 118 Wensley Corner. Firefighters arrived to find a brush fire. The brush fire was extinguished by firefighters using the brush truck. Accident: At 8:53 p.m. March 26, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to a vehicle accident at 100 Peachtree Parkway South. Firefighters and EMS personnel checked for injuries. Alarm: At 1:46 a.m. March 27, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to reported fire alarm at 124 South Fairfield. The alarm was false and caused by malfunction. Accident: At 9:39 a.m. March 27, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to Highway 54 and Planterra Ridge. Firefighters and EMS checked for injuries. Flooding: At 8:37 p.m. March 27, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to residences being flooded at Tinsley Mills. The Peachtree City Water Rescue Team and rescue boats were utilized to check all the residences to assure their safety and help with any other needs. Three condos or housing units were surrounded by water. None of the residences were evacuated. The floodwaters were monitored the rest of the night to assure everyones safety. Fayette County EMA Director Capt. Pete Nelms put Red Cross on notice. The floodwaters receded and there were no further requirements from emergency services. Wind damage: At 11:46 p.m. March 27, Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to reported structure damage possibly caused by winds at Wal-Mart, 2717 Highway 54. Firefighters and EMS personnel checked for injuries. The Peachtree City Building Department was called in to assess the structural damage. From March 21-27: Peachtree City Fire and Rescue personnel and equipment responded to 57 calls for help.
