Bad Links? | Boy wakes up, sees house flamesDamage from S. Fayette fire limited to bonus room; no one injuredBy JOHN MUNFORD No one was injured in a house fire Tuesday morning that started in the bonus room of a home in south Fayette County, officials said. The fire was spotted by a boy who had just waked up at 170 Whitehall Place, and he ran to tell his mother, said county Fire Marshal David Scarbrough. Damage was limited to the bonus room area, with perhaps a little in the garage, because firemen were able to ventilate the room so the fire could escape to the outside instead of to the interior of the home, said Deputy Chief Tom Bartlett of the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Fire crews from Fayette County were joined by one engine each from Peachtree City and Fayetteville after the first responding county unit assessed the scene, Bartlett added. The cause of the fire was under investigation after the incident, which was initially reported sometime after 10 a.m. |
