Bad Links? | Sun City Sandy Creek At-a-GlanceOVERVIEW Sun City Sandy Creek will be a signature Del Webb project. The master-planned community will encompass 1,219 acres, will be built in phases and completion of the project is expected in 2016. LOCATION The community will be located just west of Piedmont Fayette Hospital and will be bordered by Ga. Highway 54, Sandy Creek Road and Flat Creek Trail. AMENITIES As in all Sun City communities, amenities will be the crown jewel of the development. Because of the abundance of amenities, a company news release says, a lifestyle coordinator (activities director) will be employed to spearhead social connectivity within the community. Planned amenities include: 18-Hole golf course. Bocce ball courts. 10,000 square feet golf clubhouse. Restaurant. 25,000 square feet amenity complex. Miles of walking trails. Indoor and outdoor pools. Golf cart paths and lanes for transportation. Tennis complex. Variety of playgrounds and tot lots. Fitness center. Fishing ponds. Multi-purpose room. Lifestyle coordinator offices. HOMES AND NEIGHBORHOODS Sun City Sandy Creek will consist of several villages. From single-family homes to attached villas, a diverse mix of housing options will be available. In addition, all housing options focus on one-level living. It is anticipated that homes will range in price from the high $100s to the $300s. THE ENVIRONMENT Del Webb says it seeks projects that conserve resources by improving the energy-efficiency of homes or reducing material usage. At Sun City Sandy Creek: A minimum of 30 percent of the community will be designated natural areas, open space, parks and recreation areas. A private sewer system will serve the residents. Gray water from the sewer system will be recycled and used on the golf course and for watering common area within the community. HISTORY OF THE LAND Known as the Adams farm tract, this property is one of the last remaining large undeveloped parcels of land north of Hwy. 54. The Adams farm was in active farm production for over 100 years by members of the Adams families until large-scale commercial farming in north Fayette no longer remained a viable option.
