Bad Links? | Landmark choral group tours BostonThe Landmark Chrisian School Chamber Singers returned recently from a successful performance tour of Boston. The group, totaling 11 members, plus teachers and chaperones, began their tour with a performance in Cohen Auditorium at Tufts University in conjunction with Tufts University Chamber Singers and Chorale. Over the four-day trip, the group also sang at Faneuil Hall in the open-air market place. The final performance was Palm Sunday service at the Old North Church in Boston's famous North End, where they sang Ave Verum accompanied by the oldest pipe organ in America. Their director, Don Johnson, was also able to arrange a private tour of Symphony Hall, the home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, where the students were able to perform one of their songs on the Symphony Hall stage. When the group wasn't performing they spent their time walking along the Freedom Trail and taking in the many sights of the city. They visited China Town, Boston Commons and Public Gardens, the State House, Downtown Crossing, Quincy Market, the Back Bay, the North End, Bunker Hill, the US Constitution Battle Ship, and the Theater District (where the saw the Blueman Group at the Charles Playhouse). Chorale director Don Johnson is already planning the chorus trip for next year, with hopes of including all Landmark high school choral ensembles in next year's trip.
