Bad Links? | Cooler drinks coming to the FredBy JOHN MUNFORD Patrons of the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater this year will have a cool remedy for the hot summer nights of the annual concert series. Thats because Martinis will provide the concessions this year, and once the liquor license is approved by the state, they will offer frozen drinks such as margaritas and daiquiris, according to Linda McCarthy, executive director of the Peachtree City Tourism Association, which runs the citys amphitheater. We wanted to offer something that nobody could bring in themselves, McCarthy said, noting that patrons will still be able to bring their own food and drink to the amphitheater. The first concert is set for Friday, April 22 with The Four Tops and hopes are that the state can approve Martinis license for the amphitheater sales before then. The drinks will be sold in a bar-type area located in a former smoking area, and it will have a closed-circuit TV so patrons can keep an eye on whats happening on stage, McCarthy added. Originally, Deli Delicious was planned to handle the concessions for the amphitheater, but the company declined to renew its contract for unknown reasons, McCarthy said. The association had already voted in favor of the Deli Delicious contract on terms that company officials had agreed to, McCarthy noted. With Deli Delicious out of the running, the association moved on to find another vendor for food and spirits, and negotiations began with Martinis, McCarthy said. She added that she didnt know what problems Deli Delicious representatives had with the contract. |
