Bad Links? | Fire strikes Fayetteville homeBy LEE WILLIAMS Fayetteville fire officials say an electrical device might be the culprit in a blaze that gutted one room of a home on Paces Drive March 22. Units of the Fayetteville Fire Department and the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services arrived at the home of Patricia Walker at 175 Paces Drive within minutes of receiving a call for help about 10 p.m. and found smoke billowing from the two-story structure. Armed with a fire hose, firefighters rushed inside of the home and attacked the fire from the interior. At least one firefighter was hurt while fighting the fire that caused about $35,000 in damage, Fayetteville Fire Department spokesman Lt. Bill Rieck said. Right now, its still under investigation, Rieck said. We are still looking at some electrical device. The firefighter who sprained his ankle during the call is seeking proper treatment. No other injuries were reported, Rieck said. One resident was inside of the home at the time of the blaze. The occupant managed to escape from the home and call 911. Firefighters contained the fire to the master bedroom, the area of origin. |
