Bad Links? | Latest development for Senoia hits the skidsBy JOHN THOMPSON A planned vote on an upscale development in Senoia was deferred Monday night after negotiations broke down between the property owner and developer. Mayor Bob Hannah told the crowd that problems had developed between the builder and developer, so a scheduled hearing from Monday night could not be held. Neal Spratlin wanted to build a 42-lot subdivision on 47 acres, just off Pylant Street at the citys western border. The subdivision would feature 2,300 sq. ft. homes priced from the $220s to $250s. But because Pylant is already a dangerous street, Spratlin wanted to route the entrance on Howard Road. Spratlin approached Coweta County about annexing two acres on Howard Road into the city. Wed much prefer all the property be in the city, so we just have one development standard, Spratlin said. But last week, the Coweta County Commission decided to formally protest the annexation request and threw another monkey wrench into the developers plans. Hannah did not say if another possible date was scheduled for the hearing and said it would all come down to whether negotiations continued between the developer and owner. In other news, the City Council unanimously voted to issue a certificate of appropriateness for ex-mayor Dianne Clevelands request to place another home at 419 Seavy Street. Cleveland is moving another home on the site and connect it with the current home to meet the citys 1,500 square-foot requirement for homes. |
