Bad Links? | Couples dream a smashing success in TyroneFor years, Tyrones John Fitzgerald lived in the corporate world. But after 20 years, he decided it was time to leave the hustle and bustle and concentrate on doing something that he truly enjoyed. John, along with his wife Suzanne, decided to open a place in Tyrone that could serve as a meeting place for guys to have a good time without leaving the town limits. This week, the unique business of Chaps opened to rave reviews in Tyrone. The beautifully-decorated building is part-restaurant/cafe, part barber shop and part meeting center. Suzanne is an interior decorator and her exquisite taste is on display throughout the building. Walking through the door is like entering a private club, but without the expensive dues. Rich woods, gorgeous tile and lively accessory lighting give the building the English clubhouse fee. The Fitzgeralds have opened a place to service a a variety of customers. Heading to Atlanta in the morning on Ga. Highway 74? Stop by the cafe, which opens at 6:30 a.m. for coffee and a bagel with a homemade schmear. Looking for a new restaurant to take the family? The menu features everything from burgers to crab cakes and chicken cordon bleu. The Fitzgeralds spent months finding the perfect ingredients, and it shows. My friend F.C.. Foodie says the homemade potato chips are some of the best in the region. Is your hair getting too long and you dont have a favorite barber? Hop into one of the old-fashioned barber chairs and let the expert haircutters give you a new look. My favorite part is the neck shave featuring warm shaving cream and hot towels. I havent had that kind of treatment since I was a kid sitting in the barber shop with my dad. How about even more of a makeover? If you havent treated yourself to a manicure or pedicure, head to Chaps and get this treatment. Ive never had a manicure before, but trust me, Ill be back. The owners started out with an all-guys concept, but emphasize that both genders are welcome to enjoy all their services and amenities. This is truly a unique concept, and I predict a wildly-successful one for the Fitzgeralds. Ive never seen two owners more suited to their business than this couple. This is one of the best examples of business ingenuity Ive seen in years. The Fitzgeralds saw a need, and quickly moved in to fill it. Its a coup for Tyrone that this one-of-a-kind business has opened within its borders and residents from throughout the county will quickly be beating a path to Chaps. As John and Suzanne looked throughout the restaurant area Monday morning, their faces were beaming. Were just excited to finally see our dream come true, said Suzanne. So are we, Suzanne. So are we. |
