Bad Links? | Students learn about career options during CTSO WeekThe Career and Technical Student Organization and the Future Business Leaders of America at Fayette County High recently participated in CTSO Week, which promoted career options and workplace skills. Throughout the week, students took part in classroom activities designed to help them research careers as well as schools, requirements and qualifications needed for specific jobs. Everyday a particular job field was highlighted on the morning announcements, giving the students an idea of the types of jobs they could have in any one field, said Melissa Leonard, business education teacher at Fayette County High. Guest speakers were also part of the weeks planned activities. Bryan Gardner from McAlisters Deli in Fayetteville spoke to students about interview skills and how to have a successful interview. Larry Camp, president of Dream Sanitation, talked to students about the industry and entrepreneurship. The students thoroughly enjoyed both presentations. In fact, after the presentation on interview skills, one of our students went to McAlisters Deli and had a successful interview, said Leonard. The FBLA/CTSO committee designed two bulletin boards promoting CTSO Week, one featuring information about FBLA and the other highlighting classes offered in Career and Technical Education. |
