Bad Links? | McIntosh teams get big wins over opponentsMcIntoshs boys lacrosse team earned their first shutout of the season last week by defeating Wheeler High School 19-0. Goalies Dan Griffin and Graham Walsh combined for 10 saves, while defenders Patrick Cheney, Brad Plucket, Cameron Reno, David Bexley and Ed Jensen put constant pressure on the Wheeler offense. The Chiefs offense had their highest output of the season with Kevin Katerndahl, David Dye, Sean Griffin, Madison Seward and Brian Rosetti all scored. Seward led all scorers with five goals and three assists. Patrick Schneider and Seward also performed well on face offs winning eight of 13, while the Chiefs, as a team, recorded 40 ground ball pickups. The boys will host North Springs High School tomorrow at 1 p.m. The game will be played at Booth Middle School. The girls lacrosse team defeated Marist on Monday night for their first win of the season. Junior Danielle Maskery scored seven of the 10 goals while senior Sally Maple added the other three goals. Brittany Strahler, a senior, played in the net for the first time and, according to coach Mike Roache, performed tremendously. Strahler made close to 20 saves in the win. Roache also credited seniors Nicole Henderson and Nikki Jurecic for playing well defensively and senior Haley Carney and freshman Taylor Lugash for making great plays on offense. Our ball movement, passing and solid overall execution were the keys to our victory, said Roache. The Lady Chiefs lost to Columbus on Wednesday at 11-5. Maple had three goals with Maskery and sophomore Brittany LaPalm each adding a goal. |
