The Wildcats (4-1) defeated Dutchtown 12-1 in five innings. Nick Nieves was the winning pitcher striking out seven batters in four innings. Jonathan Sholar was for 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple, double and single. Justin Carpenter, who had an inside the park home run against Morrow on Friday, hit another inside the park home run against Dutchtown on Tuesday night. Im very happy that the hitting broke through and currently, I am most proud of our defense, said Coach Frank Dixon. We only made one error and this type of play is what we need to have a chance in the region playoffs. The Wildcats open region play at Northgate on Monday at 5 p.m. Fayette County stayed undefeated by beating Jonesboro 9-1. The Tigers got a three run home run from Mark Owens and two doubles from David Owens, who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Drew Ward pitched a complete game in the win. Fayette County is hosting Morrow tonight at 7 p.m.and will play Shaw in Columbus next Monday. After games against Parkview and North Gwinnett, the Tigers will begin the region schedule on Apr. 1. Our Lady of Mercy defeated Eagles Landing Christian Academy 7-5 to run its record to 3-2 and 1-0 in region play. The Bobcats were led by Jarrod Boccellas second complete game victory and the hitting of Ian Makins. Makins was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, including a timely two run single in the Bobcats six run second inning. Boccella struck out 11 and allowed seven hits and only one earned run. ELCA stranded 11 runners and left the tying run at second in the tense sixth inning. Boccella got out of a two out, runners on second and third jam with his 10th strikeout to end the inning. The Bobcats will play Mt. Zion, Carroll today at home at 4:30 p.m. and will play at Mt. Paran on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Landmark Christian fell to Bowdon on Tuesday after picking up their first two wins of the season over the weekend. The War Eagles host Whitefield Academy today at 4:30 p.m. and will play at Bremen tomorrow at 1 p.m. and at St. Francis on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Starrs Mill, which lost to Parkview and Lee County last Saturday, will host Marietta tonight at 7 p.m. and will play at Griffin on Monday at 5:30 p.m. McIntosh High Schools varsity baseball team will host Sandy Creek on Monday at 5:30 p.m. and Whitewater on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Sandy Creek plays Cairo at Middle Georgia College today at 5 p.m.
