Bad Links? | Around the world at KedronStudents at Kedron Elementary took a whirlwind tour of the worlds continents, all in two days. The tour was part of the geography fair sponsored by the schools cultural arts and academic fair committees of the PTO. Each year the PTO sponsors an academic fair focusing on a different subject area: math, science, language arts, history and geography. This year, not only did students participate in the fair, but they also helped parents prepare for it. Each grade was assigned a continent and each class within a grade level chose a country to research. Students not only learned about the geography of the country but also its customs and cultures. As with previous fairs, parents poured a lot of creativity into planning activities that would enhance the learning process such as creating a tree for South America that was too large to go into a van and building a working gondola for Italy. The parents do a wonderful job of producing the academic fair. The students look forward to them each year, said Assistant Principal Mary Margaret Bivings. |
