Bad Links? | Raymer named Georgias top econ teacherThe Georgia Council on Economic Education has selected Starrs Mill Highs Michael Raymer as a Georgia Economics Teacher of the Year. We are particularly impressed by the contribution you are making to economic education in Georgia, and by the enthusiasm which you exhibit in all you do, said Dr. Marie Wilson, associate director and chief program officer of GCEE, in a letter notifying Raymer of the award. The purpose of the award is to recognize classroom teachers (elementary, middle and secondary) who have made outstanding contributions to the teaching of economics in the public or independent schools of Georgia. To be considered for the award, nominees must either teach a course in economics or integrate economics into other courses at any grade level, K- 12. Teachers must also demonstrate: · Knowledge of economics appropriate to the grade level or courses beingtaught. · An ability and willingness to use a variety of appropriate methods andresources in teaching economics. · Enthusiasm for the teaching of economics. · Creativity in the teaching of economics. Raymer will receive the award May 13 at the annual GCEE meeting at the Carter Center. Previous recipients from Fayette include Mark DeCourcy of Sandy Creek High (2003) and Marlene Holland and Amor Kok of Sandy Creek High (1998). |
