Bad Links? | Builder pleads guilty to theft chargesBy LEE WILLIAMS A Fayette County builder accused of taking money from 21 people and 10 businesses escaped jail time in return for a guilty plea. Kenneth Jerome Wilson, the owner of Wilson Traditional Homes Inc., 140 Isleworth Way, Fayetteville, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft by taking in connection with a case that dates back to 2001. In exchange for his plea, Wilson, 44, serve five years on probation and pay over $816,918 or $3,403.82 in restitution per month. Wilson also will claim First Offenders status, which means his criminal record will be wiped clean once the terms of his sentence are satisfied. Wilson, who has a gross income of $140,000 per year or $11,666 per month, was deemed fit to pay the sum. The order will be in effect for 20 years, according to court records. The payments will be divided up between the 21 people and 10 businesses including Atlanta Contractors, Ply-Marts, Season Heating & Air, Sparkys Electric and Middle Georgia Water Systems, presiding Griffin Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Tommy Hankinson ordered. The first day of Wilsons probation began March 1. Wilson had similar charges pending in Henry County that were transferred to Fayette County for disposition. |
