Bad Links? | Tigers sprint to 5-0 startBy MICHAEL BOYLAN Every year the Fayette County Tiger varsity baseball team heads down to South Georgia for a weekend full of baseball and the results each year are mixed. This year, the Tigers went 2-for-2 with wins over Brunswick and Glynn Academy. Drew Ward, Joey Arnold and Travis Holt split the pitching duties in the Brunswick game last Friday with Ward and Arnold pitching two innings a piece and Holt pitching three. The Tigers won 10-4 and had a homerun from Dan Cooper in the win. On Saturday, the Tigers defeated Glynn Academy 6-1. Phllip Robinson took the mound for Fayette County and pitched six strong innings. He allowed two hits while striking out nine batters. Matt Clark pitched the final inning and earned the save. Chase Davis had a homerun for the Tigers. On Wednesday night, Fayette County stayed perfect by outlasting Northgate in eight innings. Cooper added another homerun to his seasons stats, as did RiChard Davis. Davis also drove in the winning run with a double in the eighth inning. Were playing pretty good right now, said Coach Robert Townsend. We just need to keep playing better and get ready for our region schedule. The Tigers had a doubleheader against both Douglas and West Nassau scheduled for this weekend. They will play at Jonesboro on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m and will host Morrow next Friday at 7 p.m. |
