Bad Links? | Locals stay hot on cold Tuesday nightBy MICHAEL BOYLAN There were a number of soccer games in the area Tuesday night, though the baseball games were cancelled. Starrs Mill hosted Lovejoy, while McIntoshs girls faced Newnan, Fayette County hosted South Gwinnett and Whitewater hosted Sandy Creek. The Starrs Mill Lady Panthers defeated Lovejoy 11-0. The team got three goals a piece from Lucy Martin and Tannah Castro and two goals a piece from Katie Jacobsen and Gina Goforth. Adrienne Phillips also scored for Starrs Mill. Martin and Jacobsen also chipped in two assists a piece, while Beth Meadors added three and Phillips, Jessica Taylor, Viktoria Frost and Alicia Roberts each added one. Goalkeeper Katelynn Morgan posted her fifth shutout of the season. The boys team won 7-0. Nick Bugara had two goals and two assists for the Panthers, while Keegan Hanie added two goals. Brian Smith had a goal and an assist, Chris Griffith and Brandon McMillan each had a goal and Corey Cross added two assists. McIntoshs Lady Chiefs got a 3-1 win over Newnan on Tuesday night. Jessie Lenze had two goals and an assist, while Katie Schulz scored the teams other goal. Sarah Harmon and Monica Hogan each had an assist. The Chiefs scored the go-ahead goal less than a minute after Newnan tied the game in the second half. Also on Tuesday night, Whitewaters girls defeated Sandy Creek 5-0. Brittany Vining and Kayla Emerson each had two goals, while Katie Schwartz added one. The Whitewater boys team lost 4-3. Sandy Creek had two goals from Jerry Riet and one from Harry Lee in the first half. The Patriots scored two goals within the first two minutes of the game. McIntoshs boys and girls hosted Creekside last night after the paper went to press, while Starrs Mill hosted Mundys Mill and Sandy Creek hosted Alexander. |
