Tab for July 4 fireworks at $26K

The pyrotechnics for Peachtree City’s annual Fourth of July fireworks show will cost $26,000 this year.

The City Council approved that figure for the fireworks last week after learning that only one of four fireworks companies responded to the city’s request for bid proposals.

Melrose Pyrotechnics won the contract award with two one-year extensions also priced at $26,000 each. Melrose has done the city’s fireworks display for the past 12 years, and the city has been pleased with the quality of the fireworks and the service, officials noted.

The fireworks display is almost the same exact package used by the city last year, said Recreation Administrator Sherry McHugh.
