Bad Links? | Mayor warns against harassmentBy JOHN THOMPSON Senoia Mayor Bob Hannah issued a stern warning Monday night to residents who may want to get involved in the citys business. I will not put up with any harassment of our citizens, he said. Hannah issued his warning after he discussed the efforts of starting a beautification committee in the city. The mayor said he didnt have a problem with that type of committee, but said they would report to him and could possibly working on beautifying the citys rights-of-way. For the last two months, the city has been enmeshed in a tog of war between a newly-created watchdog group and some of the citys more established residents. Johnny Whitlock, who lives on Main Street, appeared at the City Council meeting Monday night and wanted to know what was going on in the city. Im the owner of the infamous bathtub, Whitlock said. The handicapped-resident had come under fire because there is a bathtub in his front yard that has drawn the ire of many residents. Whitlock has said the bathtub has been there for many years and didnt see the problem, since its on his property. Hannah thanked Whitlock for appearing, but said that once the citys code enforcement officer started his job, Whitlocks tub may have to disappear. I dont have a problem with it as long as its enforced for everybody, he said. Rumors have also circulated that one resident is calling other people and saying hes representing the city and urging them to comply with the citys codes. Hannah said he wont put up with that type of behavior and said the citys ordinances will be enforced once a code enforcement officer is in place. |
