PruGeorgia announces We Care winnersAt the start of 2001, Atlanta-based Prudential Georgia Realty began what it thought would be a small internal program for its sales associates and employees called "We Care." As Prudential Realtors and employees rose to the occasion time after time to assist with community needs, national fundraisers, and personal tragedies, the We Care Program took on much greater scope. The concept behind the We Care Program is twofold. First, it serves as reminder to everyone within the Prudential family of the importance of giving back to the community and supporting each other in times of need. Secondly, the We Care Program serves as a way to bring the caring and unselfish acts of employees and sales associates into the spotlight. One component of the We Care Program is the Star of the Month Program. Each branch office nominates and selects an individual to serve as a shining example of how members of Prudential care about the community and each other. Whether it's coming to the rescue of another sales associate during a family crisis, assisting with clients during an agent's illness, or starting a technology training class at a branch office, members of Prudential Georgia Realty have come through for one another and the community at large in a true, giving fashion. In fact, entire offices or the company as a whole banned together to make a difference for numerous good causes: Raising $70,000 in 2004 for the Sunshine Kids Foundation, an organization assisting children with cancer. Companywide participation, at the start of 2005, in raising $27,180 for the Tsunami Relief Fund. Participation in building a Habitat for Humanity home. 492 backpacks filled with school supplies were given by members of Prudential Georgia Realty for metro Atlanta foster children. The Towne Lake office put together the Top of the Rock Family Festival, with all proceeds from the festival and silent auction benefiting the North Metro Miracle League's attempt to build a baseball field and playground for disabled children in Cherokee County. Members of 400 North/Lake Lanier and Dahlonega offices were instrumental in putting on the Fourth Annual Cops Hooked on Kids day and holding a Sunshine Kids dinner fund-raiser. Donating more than 500 pounds of food to the Atlanta Community Food in November. Several offices adopted needy families for the holidays. Perimeter North collected dozens of new toys for the Toys for Tots Program Peachtree City office raised $4,500 in the 2004 March of Dimes WalkAmerica Campaign and has supported this cause for several years. The Gainesville office took gifts and spread holiday cheer with Christmas carols for the senior residents of Bell-Minor Nursing Home. "Even the simplest acts of kindness can make a difference. Too often caring acts or volunteer efforts go unnoticed in our busy lives," stated Prudential Georgia Realty President and CEO Dan Forsman. "Our program brings these acts of kindness and generosity into the spotlight, recognizing sales associates and employees for their unselfish efforts." The following people were honored at the Prudential Georgia Realty annual awards breakfast February 15 as the We Care Person of the Year for their respective offices: Greg Shadburn (85 North office); Michael Aiken (400 North); Jewel Roberts (Cherokee); Kim Stafford (Corporate); Beverly Boyt (Douglasville); Ellen Sprayberry (Duluth); Fred Cook (East Cobb); Myrna Nicely (Gainesville); Amy Huber (Henry/Clayton); Mark Camp (Intown); Craige Minari (Lake Chatuge); Tammy Emam (Lilburn); Walt Dean (Northwest); Gregory Spencer (North Fulton); Terri Turner (Peachtree City); Julie Schieffelin (Perimeter North); Allen Clough (Sandy Springs); Liz Brown (South Gwinnett), and DeDe Edmondson (Towne Lake). As a special thank you to these We Care winners, Dan Forsman proceeded to randomly select the name of one winner from this group to receive a check for $1,000. Beverly Boyt, the office manager of Prudential's Douglasville location, was the winner. Prudential Georgia Realty (www.PrudentialGeorgia.com) is an independently owned and operated member of PREA, a full-service residential and commercial real estate network with offices throughout the United States and Canada. Ranked by Realtor Magazine as one of the top 100 real estate companies in the United States, Prudential Georgia Realty placed 53rd for 2002 sales volume. In 2004, the company was honored with a Consumers' Choice Award as Best in Class for Executive Home Sales in metro Atlanta. Last year, the firm exceeded the $2 billion gross sales mark for the first time in its 41-year history, ending 2004 with $2.3 billion in sales. Prudential Georgia Realty has 20 locations and nearly 1,200 Realtors serving metro Atlanta and North Georgia families with their real estate needs.
