The crimes involve the destruction of city-owned property and property that belonged to a Booth Middle School teacher. The nature of the crimes included arson-related activity, as well as the making of simple explosive devices, Peachtree City Police Chief James Murray said in a prepared statement. The devices were detonated to damage city property at the Peachtree City Soccer Complex and to destroy the teachers mailbox. Several park benches, picnic tables and two water fountains at the Soccer Complex were set aflame with gasoline or suffered damages as a result of the explosions. At least one other device was detonated in another area of the city. However, no damage could be determined. Total estimated damage or a motive for the alleged crimes were unavailable at press-time. |
