Bad Links? | Residents are offering their vision for the countyBy JOHN THOMPSON Coweta County public information officer Tom Corker is quite pleased so far with the reception the countys update of its 10-year comprehensive plan has gotten from residents. So far, weve gotten more than 1,200 surveys back, he said. The survey is part of the process the county is using to update its comprehensive plan. Residents feeling out the survey provide information about what general area of the county they live in, how many years they have in Coweta, and whether the survey taker is a homeowner, property owner, renter, business owner. The survey also asks for your e-mail address. "We don't want the process to end with the submission of this survey," said Corker. "We want to keep the dialogue going and update everyone as the process moves ahead and e-mail is the best and quickest way to do it." Additionally, the survey seeks opinions on a multitude of issues including community land use; programs, regulations, and incentives; and quality of life. "The process is very simple. You just log onto the official county web site and click on the 'Comprehensive Plan Citizen Survey' and follow the instructions. We are asking that you invest 20 minutes of your time now for 20 years of better living. This update will be completed in 2006 and will set in place goals and objectives through the year 2026 and we need everyone's help to make sure we do the best job we can." Paper versions of the survey are also available at the visioning meetings. Residents can attend the meetings and offer their input on issues concerning the future of the county. The next visioning meeting is at Jefferson Parkway Elementary School in Newnan at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. |
