Bad Links? | OLMs Binfield signs golf scholarshipThe golf program is only one year old at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School and already the school has captured a championship on the green with the announcement that an OLM student has received a college golf scholarship. Wade Binfield, a senior at Our Lady of Mercy, has been awarded a scholarship to Berry College. Binfield is no stranger to the links, having won the Southeast Junior Tournament held at Orchard Hills Golf Club. He has an obvious true love for golf, said Mercy Athletic Director Bill Schmitz, adding that he had a great foundation for golf and had already excelled in several regional tournaments. Wade went into the regional 5A Medallist tournament in Carrollton, which gave him a bid for a state tournament held at Okefenokee. He did extremely well there too. Binfield has been very active in sports at OLM. He has served as captain of the basketball team and was a member of the all region team. He also took to the gridiron and the baseball diamond for the Bobcats. Wade is the son of Rick and Wendy Binfield of Fayetteville. The family are parishioners of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City. Wade plans to pursue a major in history at Berry. |
