Bad Links? | Exceptional Childrens Week set for March 7-11Fayette County Schools Department of Exceptional Childrens Services will host its annual Exceptional Childrens Week March 7-11. The goals of the week are to promote awareness of interaction with Fayettes exceptional children, promote community knowledge, understanding and interest and inform students and teachers to the potentialities of exceptional students. The weeklong event will feature a different theme each day in which teachers and students throughout Fayettes schools will learn what it is like to be a child with a disability by participating in activities that will simulate various types of disabilities. This will be an exceptional way to educate children and adults. A great deal of people do not understand that a physical disability does not mean the child cannot think on the same level as a child who is not physically disabled, said Nick Harris, parent mentor for Fayettes Exceptional Childrens Program. As a parent of a child with a disability, I invite all to take some time during this fun filled journey to become more educated on these wonderful children and how each one of them has a heartfelt story that will not only educate you but touch your heart in the process, he added. For more information about the weeks activities, contact Harris at 770-460-3990, ext. 237 or e-mail harris.nicholas@fcboe.org.
