Middle schools sweep 2005 Academic Bowl

Flat Rock Middle captured the Griffin RESA 2005 Middle School Academic Bowl championship with an undefeated 13-0 season.

The team won first place for wins and first place for points. Rising Starr Middle took second place in total points and first-place finishes. The teams received their trophies Feb. 10 at Indian Creek Middle School in Covington.

Members of the Flat Rock team are eighth-graders Jennifer Black, Emma Kearney, Will Kearney and Robert Tobias; seventh-graders Neilsen Waters, Sarah Preston and Becky Tobias; and sixth-grader Mitchell Watson. Emma and Will are team captains. Coaches are Patsy Fuller and Lynn Winters.

Rising Starr’s team members are sixth-graders Adrianna Perry, Austin Soper and Sanjay Sridaran; seventh-graders Ford Fourquean and Noah Brunner; eighth-graders John Leon, Chris Walsh, Emilia Amalfitano, Brein Millea, Ryan O?Shaughnessy, Ben Payne, Astao Masuyama, Emma Clarke, Saher Valiani, Renee Wetli and Kirsten Jacobson. Sponsors are Lea McKillip, Tom Bruton and Richard Cookson
