Bad Links? | Nativity Episcopal church announces Lenten activitiesThe Episcopal Church of the Nativity will offer two weekly activities this year for the Lenten season. Each Wednesday through March 16, the evening will begin with a service of Holy Eucharist at 6 p.m., followed by a simple supper of bread and soup at 6:30 p.m. A program, facilitated by the Rev. Bob Hudak, rector of Nativity, begins at 7 p.m. Some of the topics Hudak will include are Faith Story: Traveling with God, Thirsting Souls: Living Invitation, and Leaving the Grave Behind. All of the topics covered come from Groundwork, a guide for Lenten study and action, which is designed to encourage serious and joyful learning about evangelism, invitation, and welcome. The short service of Compline, or night prayers of the church, concludes the evening at 7:45 p.m. Each Friday through March 18, The Way of the Cross will be offered at 5:30 p.m. Also called Stations of the Cross, Via Crucis, and Via Dolorosa, this popular devotion, revived by the followers of St. Francis of Assisi in medieval times, involves praying before a series of representations of events on Jesuss journey to the Cross. It reflects the practice of pilgrims who walk from the site of Pilates judgment hall, following the streets of Old Jerusalem to end to the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre. The church is at 130 Antioch Road, just off of Hwy. 92 South, at Harps Crossing in Fayetteville.
