Ever built a house?

I have been told that some couples get a divorce when they go through the “joy / trauma” of building a house. This does not seem possible that two people who love each other and are “accomplishing their dream” would get a divorce over the building of that “dream.  

After going through the “joys” of building a church, I know what they are talking about. It is no fun meeting with contractors, building inspectors, suppliers, church committees finance committees bankers painters, carpenters, plumbers, landscapers, decorators, carpet people, brick layers, land graders, electricians, surveyors, architects, stained glass people, pew makers, baptistery suppliers, curb and gutter people, steel building contractors, steeple man, engineers, zoning and planning boards, septic tank folks, termite folks.

I hope I didn’t leave anybody out!! Oh I almost forgot the sound man, and did I mention raising the money to pay for all of this??

Remember the old commercial for Anacin on TV?

“When headache strikes, pain mounts up, you feel dull, depressed and tension puts nerves on edge?”

“Now aspirin has only one pain reliever. Add Bufferin you still get only one, but Anacin is like a doctor’s prescription to one, relieve pain, two, help overcome that depressed feeling, three, calm jittery nerves.”

Then this pain free person dressed and ready to go out to dinner says “ I feel great and Anacin doesn’t upset my stomach.”

You know it is strange, but aspirin never upset my stomach, however I was told 2,940 times a day on TV that Anacin would not, thus indicating that aspirin would.Strange how you remember old TV commercials when under church building stress. Maybe I need to go buy some Anacin after all. We know it will not upset my stomach, or maybe just a regular ole aspirin would work.

If you are possibly in a building program at your church, please pray for your pastor and his family on a daily basis and send him some Anacin and Aspirin.

Today we are finishing our punch list. This is the list from the building inspector indicating the final items that must be completed for you to receive your final certificate of occupancy. We now have a temporary certificate until the trumpet sounds and we get the final nod of approval. Maybe I can add all this wonderful knowledge to my resume! Come Lord Jesus soon!

On Sunday March 13, we will be dedicating our new building, followed by a BBQ - No we don’t deliver, you must be present to eat the BBQ! Come be with us, or at least pray for this glorious occasion.
