Bad Links? | McIntosh starts first varsity season, boys win and girls loseIn the first ever lacrosse match for a Fayette County high school, the McIntosh Chiefs beat Riverwood High School of Sandy Springs 13-1. The game was highlighted by a high scoring offense and superb defensive play. Kevin Katerndahl led all scorers with one goal and five assists, while Madison Seward, David Dye and Sean Griffin each scored three goals. The defense, which allowed only one late game goal, was anchored by goalie, Dan Griffin, and defenders, Brad Plunkett, Patrick Cheney, and Cameron Reno. Brian Rossetti, Seward, and Justin Tinker provided a strong midfield, with Rossetti scoring two goals. Patrick Schneider won all 10 of his face-offs. The team was cheered-on by a large number of highly supportive fans that traveled to the field on the north side of the perimeter. Although the team and their fans were extremely elated with the teams first effort, there was one downside as the highly experienced Rossetti suffered a knee sprain. The Chiefs are coached by Butch Prosser and Mike Meutzel. Most of the Chief players have played for the highly successful Peachtree City Lacrosse Club team over the past four years. Their club experience was evident throughout the game. The girls started their season on Tuesday with a 16-3 loss to Woodward Academy. |
