Bad Links? | Nativity Episcopal will host World Peace VillageThe Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville will present the World Peace Village project, Saturday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church. The event is open to the public and admission is $1 per person (to cover cost of the materials). The Peace Village is a self-guided, educational event for all ages, designed to promote compassion, tolerance and understanding of different religions. It includes stations, each of which gives an introduction to one of six spiritual traditions: Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish, and Native American. The Golden Rule, found in the sacred teachings of each tradition, anchors and underscores the shared core values of all the spiritual practices, said Fr. Bob Hudak, pastor of Nativity. Visitors will see beautiful banners, learn about religious articles used in each tradition, and participate in hands-on prayer activities: prayer rugs, prayer beads, mezuzah, flags, sticks, and candles. Children and parents as well as individuals will walk together the path toward peace, tolerance and understanding in a prayerful atmosphere. The Peace Village project was developed by the Child and Family Research and Training Institute, a nonprofit educational organization in Menlo Park, Calif., and is used all over the country in different churches as well as secular organizations. For more information, visit the Peace Village project on the Web at www.worldpeacevillage.org. The Episcopal Church of the Nativity is at 130 Antioch Road, just off of Ga. Hwy. 92 South, at Harps Crossing in Fayetteville. It is one of the 93 parishes in the Diocese of Atlanta and a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
