Bad Links? | 25 citations and 14 warnings handed out during Jan. 28 traffic enforcement blitzMembers of the Fayette County Sheriff Departments Traffic Enforcement Division braved frigid conditions Jan. 28 to ensure motorists in the county are following the law when it comes to traffic safety. During the traffic enforcement blitz, officials issued more than 25 traffic citations and 14 warnings. The department hit schools and well-traveled highways and roads throughout the county including Ga. Highway. 74 in Peachtree City and Ellison Road in Fayette County. More than a dozen warnings were given to motorists who failed to adhere to the often-overlooked Move Over Law, which went into effect July 1. The law specifies motorists must move over, slow down and be prepared to stop when approaching an emergency vehicle stopped on the side of the highway. The violation comes with a $500 fine per infraction. Among the citations issued were: Seat belt violations: 18 Speeding: 1 Move Over Law violation: 1 Miscellaneous traffic violations: 5 Among the warnings issued were: Move Over Law violations: 12 Speeding: 1 Improper lane change: 1 |
