Bad Links? | Fulton County Receives 1,000 More Doses of Flu VaccineNow available to everyone, in keeping with national and state lifting of restrictionsThe Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness has received an additional 1,000 doses of flu vaccine, and has made its entire supply available to anyone in Fulton County, regardless of age or medical condition. The Centers for Disease Control and the Georgia Department of Human Resources gave the green light recently for the vaccine to be offered to the general population. Previously, flu vaccine was restricted to certain categories of children, seniors and others with the greatest risk of developing complications from the flu. While high-risk groups still have priority, we are now again administering the vaccine to everyone who comes to our 12 health centers until supplies are exhausted, said Fulton Health and Wellness Director Dr. Steven Katkowsky. The doses cost $15 each. To find the nearest Fulton County Health Center, visit the Fulton County website at www.myfultoncountyga.us, or call 404-730-4023. For more information about the flu vaccine, call the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness Flu Information Line at 404-730-6522. Since October 1, 2004, the Department has administered more than 15,000 doses of flu vaccine at Fulton County senior citizen centers, high rises and health centers in a campaign targeting high-risk populations and their caregivers. |
