Bad Links? | GBI investigating two Palmetto home invasionsPalmetto police and Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agents want to question three men in connection with armed robbery and aggravated assault during two recent home invasion incidents in Palmetto. The first incident occurred in the late evening hours Dec. 8 at a residence in the downtown area. Three men wearing hooded sweatshirts entered the residence, assaulted the male resident and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Detective John Cooper. During the incident, the resident was struck in the back of the head by a handgun reportedly carried by one of the three men, Cooper said. The assailant then fired a single shot in the air, Cooper added. After the incident the resident was treated for a laceration at the scene by paramedics. A second home invasion occurred on Dec. 17 at a residence in the Brentwood Boulevard area, also during the late evening hours. Cooper said the female resident pulled into her driveway, followed by four men in a burgundy colored SUV with a roof rack. Three of the men exited the vehicle and demanded money while the fourth man remained inside the vehicle, according to reports. The woman told investigators that all three men were armed and that she was told she would be shot if she did not comply with their demands, Cooper said. Insisting that she had no money, the assailants took her inside the residence where she was subsequently able to elude them and flee from the house, according to reports. The woman told officers her husband was pulling up at the the residence in his vehicle as she fled the house. She got in her husbands vehicle and they left the area, Cooper said. Wanted for questioning are three black males. One of the men is thought to be in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 58-59 tall, approximately 190 lbs. with a medium build and a gold tooth. A second man is believed to be 18-20 years old, 58-59 in height and 165-175 lbs. with a thin build. The third man is thought to be 17-19 years of age, 56-57 tall and approximately 150 lbs. with a thin build. Cooper said Monday that Palmetto police and GBI are working to resolve the cases. I want to assure citizens that Im working jointly with the GBI on these cases. Im going to pursue these cases until they are resolved, he said. Any help the public can give to assist in these cases would be greatly appreciated. Anyone with knowledge of these incidents is urged to call the Palmetto Police Department or the GBI. Palmetto Police Chief Bobby Fronebarger said there is a possibility that the two home invasion incidents are connected, given some of the similarities between the two. Incidents such as these will not go unanswered, he said. Criminal behavior of any nature, more especially of this type, is not conducive to the well-being of our citizens and will not be tolerated, said Fronebarger. We will enlist any lawful means available to aid us in bringing those responsible to justice. We encourage citizens to always be alert to their immediate surroundings and to call 911 should questionable situations arise. Anyone with information relating to these incidents is asked to contact the Palmetto Police Department at (770) 463-9068 or GBI Special Agent Josh Godbois at the GBI Atlanta Regional Office at (770) 388-5019.
