Bad Links? | PTC Lazers named to Soccer Americas top 20 youth clubsBy MICHAEL BOYLAN Soccer America magazine recently named the Peachtree City Lazers girls soccer club among the the top 20 boys and girls youth soccer clubs in the nation. The Lazers are ranked 15th. Among the determining factors for its selection mentioned in the article were the U-19 team capturing the national title in 2003, the U-18 Lazers winning last falls Region III Premier League East Division and also having several teams ranked among the best in the South. The Lazers also have a rising star in Kelley OHara, who impressed the U.S. U-17 National team in January. In addition, the Lazers have sent 30 players to the U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program and have had several players qualify for the U.S. Regional Team. Many members of the 87 Elite team were recently honored as NSCAA All-Americans with Jessica Lenze named as the NSCAA Goergia State High School Player of the Year. The Gwinett Soccer Association was also named to the top 20 for girls making the 16th spot, while the Concorde Fire was ranked 10th among boys. |
