The Cottages opening in Heron BayWindsong Properties has announced the opening of The Cottages at Heron Bay, the companys Active Adult Neighborhood located in Minerva Properties 1,150-acre resort-styled master planned community spanning the Henry and Spalding County line. Prospective homeowners in the 55 plus age group now have the opportunity to see these unique courtyard homes that have been extremely popular in a number of northern Metro locations, said Steve Romeyn, managing partner of Windsong Properties. In fact, our neighborhood of courtyard homes in Woodstock is so popular that we had nine sales there in one month. To my knowledge, The Cottages is the first courtyard home neighborhood offered south of the airport. One of the newest neighborhoods in Heron Bay, which is off Ga. Highway 155 in the Locust Grove area, The Cottages at Heron Bay will have 67 detached homes priced from $174,900 to the low $200,000s with 33 of these homes being situated along the 18th fairway of the developments Canongate golf course. Six homes in The Cottages are already occupied by residents, while five more homes are under contract and eight other homesites have been reserved. Two different home plans, The Walton and The Windstar, are offered for homebuyers in The Cottages. Both of these courtyard plans are designed to give homeowners great views of the outdoors and lots of interior light, while providing a sense of privacy and security. Also offered are a long list of special interior and exterior features, including a large master suite, a two-car garage, and low maintenance siding. Homes in The Cottages have received certification from the EasyLiving Home Coalition. This is a voluntary certification developed by a coalition of public and private organizations to encourage the inclusion of key features which make a home cost effective, accessible, and convenient for everyone, no matter their age, size, or physical ability. Just completed for residents use is a 1,900 sq. ft. clubhouse at the entrance to the neighborhood community and overlooking the 18th green of the golf course. The clubhouse is exclusively for the use of Windsong homeowners in Heron Bay. Designed for fun and hanging out, it will have a great room, a flexible rec room with a dance floor and furniture for card playing and other games, a big screen TV, a kitchen for catering, rest rooms, a computer room/library, and a gracious covered porch from which to watch the action on the 18th green. More information about The Cottages can be obtained by calling on-site Sales Manager Georgia Wright and on-site hostess Carolyn Case at 770-898-1042. With their home purchases, residents of the Windsong Properties neighborhood in Heron Bay live in a country club community at an affordable price and can now begin enjoying those amenities, including the lake with opportunities for fishing, boating and other outdoor activities, as they are completed. Community life centers around the recently-opened 5,000 sq. ft. lodge in the community, which is also serving as the developments information center. This building has a great room, meeting rooms, fitness center, library, and childrens play room, and it can be utilized for community gatherings, homeowner association meetings, and other events. A verandah and arbor with an outdoor fireplace overlook the communitys aquatic center, which has heated pools including a junior olympic-sized swimming pool, zero entry pool with splash fountain, water slide and a mushroom forest. The 18-hole championship golf course, which was designed, developed and managed by Canongate Golf Clubs, recently celebrated its opening and has a clubhouse with a pro shop and grill, a driving range, and a practice range. Other communitywide amenities include lighted tennis courts, childrens play park, sports field, and miles of nature trails which are adjacent to the Cubihatcha Outdoor Center, a county nature trail system and preserve. An additional swim and tennis center is in the planning for the future. The Cottages at Heron Bay is located on the left one mile inside Heron Bay across Heron Bay Boulevard from the Canongate Clubhouse. Located on Hwy. 155 approximately five miles from Exit 216 off Interstate 75 and just 30 minutes southeast of downtown Atlanta, Heron Bay is situated along the eastern shoreline of the 1,100-acre Cole Reservoir.
