Project Santa raises $5,800The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia and its Sales & Marketing Council raised approximately $5,800 in their latest effort to help provide Christmas to children in each of the 10 counties in their service area. The yearly event, which was begun in 2002 and known as Project Santa Claus, was co-presented in Christmastime 2004 by DuPont Tyvek. Monetary contributions to help provide toys and food items for the recipients were brought to an Open House Dec. 2 at the association office in Fayetteville. Mailed contributions were also accepted. With the funds collected, donations of toys and bicycles were made to the Departments of Family & Children Services in the 10 counties. In addition, a monetary donation was made to the families of three reservists currently in Iraq or in the process of going there, and contributions were sent to the Fayette Youth Protection Home, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Joseph Sams School in Fayetteville. The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia serves builders in Fayette, Coweta, Spalding, Meriwether, Heard, Pike, Upson, Lamar, Butts and Jasper counties. More information about the group can be obtained by calling Sandy Boda, executive officer, at 770-716-7109. | ||
