Smith named top associateEric Smith of The Bank of Georgia has been named 2004 Associate of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia. Smith is an honor graduate of Newnan High School, graduated magna cum laude from Georgia State University, and completed the LSU Graduate School of Banking. He began working in 1987 as a loan officer with Newnan Saving and Loan, remaining in this capacity as the banked changed to First Citizens Bank and then BB&T. In 2001, he started with the Bank of Georgia and serves as senior vice president. He was instrumental in starting the banks mortgage division in 2004. He has been a member of the home builders associations board of directors since 2003. Smith lives in Newnan with his wife Wendy and their three children, Austin, 15, Logan, 6, and Caroline, 3. The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia serves builders in Fayette, Coweta, Spalding, Meriwether, Heard, Pike, Upson, Lamar, Butts and Jasper counties.
