Bad Links? | Waffle coupons offered for blood donors on WednesdaysPersons who donate blood at any American Red Cross donor center on Wednesdays will receive a coupon for a free waffle at Waffle House. The Waffle Wednesdays promotion lasts through January 2006 as an effort to promote blood donation. The coupon can be redeemed at any participating Waffle House location. Approximately 1,200 donors are needed daily to meet the needs of local hospital patients in the American Red Cross Blood Services Southern Region, officials said. The closest donor centers on the southside are in the Camp Creek area of East Point at 3645 Marketplace Boulevard, Suite 180 and the South Metro Donor Center in Stockbridge, across from the Garden Ridge at 675 Southcrest Parkway. Most healthy people age 17 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood. The participation of Waffle House in the program is part of its commitment to community involvement, said Jean Cain, wellness director for Waffle House. We understand the importance of blood donations and are proud to be a part of the Waffle Wednesday program with the Red Cross, Cain said. For more information about donating blood, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or visit www.givebloodredcross.org. |
