Bad Links? | Runaway, 14, crashes van, injures womanBy LEE WILLIAMS A woman remained in critical condition at the Atlanta Medical Center Tuesday after a teen runaway allegedly stole her parents vehicle and slammed head-on into another motorist, injuring a passenger. Peachtree City Police Departments Collision Reconstruction teams findings revealed the 14-year-old Peachtree City girl was traveling northbound on Ga. Highway 74 at 12:45 a.m. Friday, in her parents Dodge Caravan without their permission. The teen crossed over the centerline on Hwy. 74 near Holly Grove Road in south Peachtree City near the Publix Shopping Center and plowed into a 2001 Nissan Quest driven by Vincent Joseph, 39, of Fayetteville. A female passenger, Alice Esthappan, 56, Fayetteville, was critically injured. Rescue One Air Helicopter officials transported Esthappan to the hospital. Peachtree City fire and rescue crews transported Joseph to Piedmont Fayette Hospital by ambulance. The extent of Josephs injuries and the name of the juveniles school were unavailable from the Peachtree City police department. No arrests have been made. However, charges are pending, police said. PCPD Maj. Mike Dupree refused to give more details about the case, citing the ongoing investigation. |
