Bad Links? | Drug arrest rumor at SMHS false, authorities sayBy LEE WILLIAMS Capt. Mike Hattaway of the Fayette County Sheriff Departments Criminal Investigation Division squashed the rumors during a brief phone interview. Acting on a drug tip, narcotics agents entered the high school armed with drug-tracking dogs. The canines searched bathrooms and the gym searching for the contraband, authorities said. We were acting on some drug information and we didnt want to put our heads in the sand, Hattaway said. We wanted to act on it. No drugs were found inside of the high school, Hattaway said. But he said, a small quantity of marijuana was found in the automobile of a 18-year-old Starrs Mill student. Brian Boston of Turnberry Circle, Fayetteville, was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, during the high school drug search. He was taken to the Fayette County Jail that same day for booking. Boston was released from jail after posting a $2,300 bond, Fayette County Sheriffs Department spokeswoman Lt. Belinda McCastle said Thursday. |
