Bad Links? | Grammy nominee arrested in FayettevilleBy LEE WILLIAMS The 44-year-old Seal, who is nominated to receive a Grammy for Best R&B song for co-producing Usher and Alicia Keys hit single My Boo, and an acquaintance were arrested on misdemeanor charges Tuesday night at Fayette Tire, 465 S. Glynn Street. Fayetteville police observed Seal, of 125 Trolling Way, Fayetteville, and Wendale Baxton, 21, of 415 Queen Elise Way, Jonesboro, drive into the parking lot of the closed business about 8:30 p.m. The men allegedly placed two scrap tires, valued at $100, into the rear of their 1998 red Jeep Cherokee and attempted to leave the business without paying for them, police said. When officers spoke with Mr. Seal, he allegedly told police that he had permission from a store employee to take some tires, Fayetteville Police spokeswoman Lt. Beverly Trainor said. But police quickly discovered the information Seal provided was not true, Trainor indicated. He said he was given permission by an employee and he was not, Trainor said. He gave several names of employees and one of the names was Larry. The owner of the store was able to confirm that he did not employ anyone named Larry. Seal and Paxton were arrested on the scene and charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing and theft by taking. The men were transported to the Fayette County Jail for booking. Seal and Paxton were released Wednesday after posting a $2,400 bond, Fayette County Sheriffs Department Lt. Belinda McCastle said. Seal is lauded in the music industry as a songwriter and producer extraordinaire. His hits includes Ushers You Make Me Wanna, Nice and Slow, My Way, Mariah Careys Always Be My Baby, and Mary J. Bliges Give Me You, according to the MusicPowers.com Web site. The Grammy awards will air 8 p.m. Feb. 13 on CBS. Feb. 13 on CBS.
