Locals performing well on larger stage

• The Navy gymnastics team placed seventh overall at the recent West Point Open. Sophomore Sean Blackman from Fayetteville was the lone Midshipman to qualify for the individual finals. He placed sixth in the rings with a score of 9.25. His brother, Josh, a senior and captain of the team, was a top 20-finoisher in the all-around, placing 16th with a score of 49.35.

• Kyle Carr, a short track speedskater from Peachtree City, has qualified for the U.S. World Cup Team. He will compete in Budapest, Hungary this weekend and in Spissta Nova, Slovakia the following weekend.
