Season kicks off with festivalLocal lacrosse fans will have a lot to be excited about this weekend. On Saturday, Feb. 5, Riley Field in Peachtrree City will play host to a lacrosse festival. The day will begin at 9 a.m. with the final box lacrosse games being played at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. The festival itself will start at 12:30 p.m. and will give participants a chance to learn about the history of the sport, play some skill games, meet the coaches of spring lacrosse, enjoy food and refreshments and have uniform fittings. The festival runs until 2:30 p.m and will be followed by the first high school game of the season at 3 p.m. Registration for spring lacrosse is open now at fayettelax.com. The league is open to boys and girls ages 8-17. The season lasts from Feb. 5- May 15. Practices are twice a week at Riley Field and the games will be played on the weekend. The fee for registration prior to Feb. 5 is $210 and afterwards the fee is $225. Fees include home and away uniforms.
