Feb. fashion fundraiser set for ailing firefighterBy LEE WILLIAMS A group of businesswomen will stroll down a catwalk at a February Fashion Show to raise money for a county firefighter who is battlng a malignant brain tumor. The Fashion Show will be held Feb. 13 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Wyndham Peachtree Hotel & Conference Center. J. Andrews Bridal & Formal, 308 Willow Bend Road, Peachtree City, will sponsor the event. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Josh Warren, a firefighter with the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Warren has exhausted all of his annual and sick leave and has limited income to care for him and his 5-year-old daughter, Hannah, or pay the $700 per month medical insurance premium, which will cover the care he receives from the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. So, the folks at J. Andrews, have agreed to pitch in. Sandra Addison, who is an organizer for the event, said she saw Warrens picture and she knew it was something she had to do. There was a story about him in the paper and it just touched our heart, Addison said. Ive known several people who had cancer and we wanted to help people like that. We will do this every year for somebody. Thats what weve committed ourselves to do. Addison said her decision to help is totally from my heart. The Fashion Show will showcase an array of wedding gowns and door prizes also will be given out. J. Andrews will give away a bridal gown. A florist from Virtu, 1107 Crosstown Court, Peachtree City, and a representative from Dream Cakes in Peachtree City also will donate door prizes. We are looking for other vendors to participate or give away (prizes), Addison said. The cost of the event is yet to be determined. However, Addison said it will likely cost $10 per person. Participants must be present throughout the event to win a prize, Addison emphasized. J. Andrews efforts will join the growing number of residents, students and businessowners who have pooled together to help Warren. Roughly $12,000 has been raised to date.
