Fire station getting new roof

A bid to replace part of the roof at Neely Fire Station was approved by the Peachtree City Council at its meeting last week.

The bid of $32,753 from S. Garrett and Company of Carrollton, Ga. is $8,708 over cost but that money will come from the city’s contingency fund for public improvement projects.

The building has been plagued by leaks after multiple attempts to patch the problem areas, fire officials said. Leaks continue to erode at the carpet and have damaged ceiling tiles, bookcases and books.

A local architect, John Reeves, prepared the roof design at no cost to the city. He previously designed the burn building used by the fire department for training.
