Problems with the street, curb and gutter system at the Wilshire Estates subdivision in south Peachtree City have left a number of homeowners steamed for months, but Centex Homes has been working on making the repairs in recent weeks, city officials said.
Streets in the neighborhood have been worked on and other areas have been identified for repair by city staff, note Clyde Stricklin, the citys director of developmental services. There are some cases where entire sections of road need to be repaved instead of small individual spots, he noted.
The curbs had a lot of chips, breaks and cracks, too, Stricklin said. Groundwater problems caused some of the damage to the streets, he added.
But now the fix is on, and some repairs have already taken place, he noted.
It should turn out looking pretty good, Stricklin said.
The city wont accept ownership of the streets unless they are built to city standards, noted Peachtree City Public Works Director Tom Corbett.
