Two Fayette residents face burglary charges after a trail of evidence from a June break-in at Brass Hanger dry cleaners in Peachtree City led police to them.
Abigail Larissa Gay, 23, of Bernhard Road, Fayetteville, an employee at the dry cleaning business, and her boyfriend, Jason Thomas Boyd, 23, of North Fayette Drive, Fayetteville, each were charged with burglary in connection with the incident.
On June 6, 2003, officers responded to a burglary call at the Brass Hanger, 1135 Crosstown Drive, Peachtree City, PCPD Police Chief James Murray said in a prepared statement. An employee reported that she arrived at work to find that a window to the business had been broken and the safe lying outside on the ground. Inside the business, an office door had been forced open and other areas had been accessed.
An unspecified amount of cash was stolen from the business, which also houses the companys main office.
An investigation ensued that resulted in the arrests of Gay and Boyd.
Gay was released from the Fayette County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
Boyd, a two-time convicted drug felon, is awaiting appearance in Fayette County Magistrate Court pending his release from the Rogers State Prison in Reidsville, where he is serving time for weapon and drug charges.
More charges and additional arrests are expected in the case.
David Kazek, who owns the dry cleaning chain, indicated he would comment once he received definitive information from the Peachtree City police.
