Whitewater gets some good finishes in meet in Augusta

Whitewater High School’s boys and girls swim teams joined McIntosh, Fayette County and Starr’s Mill in a swim meet in Augusta recently. Though both teams finished in seventh place, there were some good performances for the Wildcat swimmers.

The boys 200 medley relay team of David Menchinger, Chad Lawrence, Matt Schreiner and Matt Rose placed ninth (2:09.65), while the girls 200 medley relay team of Megan Bidelman, Cassandra Heimann, Jena Adam and Lesley Binfield placed 12th (2:20.54) and the team of Hollisha Buchanan, Teresa Hill, Jamie Knox and Raven Charlden placed 20th (3:00.04). In the boys 200 yard free, Todd Dearing placed 15th (2:52.76) and Matt Glass placed 16th (3:27.34), while in the girls 200 free Catharin Groover placed 11th (2:41.52) and Lauren Roberts placed 18th (3:05.37).

Menchinger placed first in the boys 200 individual medley (2:08.32) and first in the 100 back (55.61), while Schreiner took 12th (2:47.34). In the girls 200 individual medley, Bidelman took 12th (3:06.41), while Hill placed 16th (3:52.96). Dustin Brown placed 25th in the boys 50 free (30.47), followed by Chad Lawrence in 29th (31.54). In the girls 50 free, Binfield placed 15th (30.23), Charlden placed 32nd (33.15), Roberts placed 41st (34.35) and Jaimie Concord placed 59th (40.31). Dearing placed 12th in the boys 100 fly (1:35.88), while Groover and Bidleman placed 15th (1:29.51) and 16th (1:33.48) respectively.

Brown placed 28th in the 100 free for the boys (1:09.47) and Glass followed in 34th place (1:22.44). Cassandra Heimann placed 10th in the girls 100 free (1:05.65) , while Adam placed 19th (1:09.43) and Rachel Worrel placed 50th (1:36.69). Buchanan placed 11th in the girls 500 free (8:13.83). In the boys 200 free relay, Menchinger, Schreiner, Rose and Lawrence placed ninth (1:54.07), while Adam, Groover, Concord and Jamie Knox placed 17th (2:22.83) and Charlden, Worrel, Roberts and Anna Pugh placed 19th (2:43.43) in the girls 200 free relay.

Concord placed 23rd in the girls 100 back (1:48.63), followed by Worrel in 26th (1:55.32), while Schreiner took 13th in the 100 breast (1:20.54), followed by Rose in 23rd (1:29.71). Heimann placed third in the girls 100 breast (1:16.92), Knox took 28th (1:46.31), Hill placed 34th (1:58.91) and Charlden finished in 35th (2:03.11). In the boys 400 free relay, Brown, Glass, Dearing and Lawrence placed 10th (5:00.33), while Bidelman, Groover, Binfield and Heimann placed eighth (4:38.92) and Adam, Pugh, Buchanan and Roberts placed 12th (6:04.93) in the girls 400 free relay.
